Iran has launched missile strikes into at least six countries, including key US allies, in retaliation for a military attack by the United States and Israel on Saturday morning. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it targeted US military bases across the region, prompting air defence responses from multiple nations and reports of casualties and infrastructure damage.

Details on the scale and impact of the strikes are still emerging, but governments from the Gulf to the Levant have confirmed intercepting numerous projectiles. The retaliatory action marks a significant and dangerous escalation in regional hostilities, with ongoing attacks and counter-attacks reported.

Regional Nations Report Interceptions and Damage

Bahrain, host to the US Navy's 5th Fleet, reported its defence forces successfully intercepted multiple missiles. The state news agency confirmed the service centre was targeted, though no casualties were initially reported.

In Qatar, which hosts the massive Al Udeid Air Base, the defence ministry stated it intercepted three waves of attacks aimed at multiple areas. All missiles were intercepted before reaching Qatari territory, according to the Qatar News Agency. The Qatari government condemned strikes on US bases in the country and neighbouring states.

Jordanian state media reported its air defence systems intercepted two ballistic missiles. The country's Public Security Directorate noted 12 separate incidents from falling debris, causing damage but no civilian casualties. The Muwaffaq Al-Salti Air Base, which hosts a US military presence, was named as a target by Iranian media.

Casualties and Infrastructure Impact

The United Arab Emirates confirmed one person was killed in Abu Dhabi by falling debris from intercepted ballistic missiles. Its defence ministry shared images of downed missiles and reported damage to some infrastructure, with explosions heard in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The Al Dhafra Air Base, which hosts US forces, was reportedly targeted.

In Dubai, the Government Media Office said four people were injured and hospitalised after an "incident" caused a fire in a building on the Palm Jumeirah. The fire is now under control.

Kuwait's army said its air defences intercepted missiles in its airspace, while its civil aviation authority reported a drone attack on Kuwait International Airport's Terminal 1, causing minor injuries to several employees and some damage.

Wider Regional Fallout and Responses

Israel reported facing multiple missile barrages from Iran but has not confirmed any deaths or major damage. In turn, Israel has released footage of strikes within Iran targeting missile launchers. Iranian officials claimed an Israeli attack on a girls' elementary school in southern Iran killed at least 51 people.

US embassies across the region have advised American citizens to shelter in place. US President Donald Trump stated he would "destroy Iran's missile program and navy" and ensure the country can "never" have a nuclear weapon. "The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties. That often happens in war," Trump said in a statement.

The conflict has caused major travel disruption, with flights cancelled across the region and multiple countries closing their airspace, affecting one of the world's busiest flight corridors.
