AI-powered dictation startup Wispr Flow has launched its Android application, expanding its platform availability. The company, which first released apps for Mac and Windows before launching on iOS in June 2025, has also introduced a new model specifically for transcribing Hinglish, a mix of Hindi and English.
The Android app features a distinct interface, using a floating bubble for access instead of a dedicated keyboard. Users can hold the bubble to dictate or tap to start and stop. The app performs its core functions of dictation, cleaning up filter words, and formatting text based on context across other applications.
Android Launch and Technical Improvements
Tanay Kothari, co-founder and CEO of Wispr Flow, stated that the Android platform provided new freedoms. "Android finally gave us the freedom to build the voice experience we always wanted. Only when the platform gets out of the way can we truly expect voice to replace typing on mobile," Kothari said.
Alongside the app release, the company completed an infrastructure rewrite that it claims makes dictation 30% faster than previous versions. The app supports translation in over 100 languages.
Filling an Android Gap and Introducing Hinglish
The launch positions Wispr Flow as one of the few AI-powered dictation apps available on Android, a market where options like Typeless only emerged last month. The company has also released a new model specifically designed for Hinglish transcription, catering to speakers in India who code-switch between the languages.
"If you’re someone like me, English and Hindi weave together when I’m chatting with family and colleagues back home. This is one of the first voice models to actually support transcription in Hinglish instead of traditional Hindi script," Kothari explained regarding the new model.
Growth and Funding Trajectory
Wispr Flow has seen significant user engagement and venture capital interest. The company noted that during an early rollout to select users, they spoke over 1.3 million words in just a few days.
The startup has raised a total of $81 million in funding. This includes a $30 million round led by Menlo Ventures in June 2025 and a further $25 million round led by Notable Capital in November 2025. According to sources, its last funding round valued the company at $700 million.
