Airbnb announced on Tuesday it is launching a new private car pick-up service in 125 cities worldwide, marking a significant expansion of its travel services. The company has partnered with the transportation firm Welcome Pickups to facilitate the bookings, which will be available in major destinations including Paris, Bali, and Mexico City.
The feature, which will appear in the Trips tab of the Airbnb app for users who have booked accommodation in a participating city, allows guests to schedule a private cab directly to their listing. According to Airbnb, the service has already been trialled this year in Europe and Asia, where "thousands of guests" used it, resulting in an average rating of 4.96 out of 5.
Strategic Expansion of Services
This move is the latest step in Airbnb's strategy to become a comprehensive travel platform. "Airbnb Services are designed to enhance a guest’s stay, and our partnership with Welcome Pickups delivers that from the moment they arrive," stated Dave Stephenson, Airbnb's chief business officer.
The company launched its services category in the summer of 2025, initially offering ten categories such as booking chefs, photographers, and spa treatments. In November 2025, it partnered with Instacart to enable grocery deliveries for guests in select U.S. cities.
Broader Ambitions in Travel
The car service rollout coincides with Airbnb's broader experimentation in the travel sector, including testing hotel room bookings on its platform. During the company's Q4 2025 earnings call, CEO Brian Chesky highlighted the massive opportunity in hotels, stating it would allow Airbnb to be part of a user's trip "no matter what kind of stay a guest wants."
Airbnb has confirmed plans to expand the private car pick-up service to more cities and locations throughout the year. The integration means users can view their cab reservation details and make changes directly within the Airbnb application.
