Software giant Atlassian has announced a suite of new artificial intelligence tools for its content collaboration platform, Confluence, focused on transforming data into visual assets and functional applications. The launch, detailed in a company blog post on Wednesday, includes the open beta of a visual tool called Remix and the introduction of three new third-party AI agents.

The move represents Atlassian's latest effort to embed AI capabilities directly into existing workplace software, following the addition of AI agents to its project management tool Jira in February. This strategy aligns with an industry-wide trend of integrating AI into established workflows rather than creating standalone AI platforms.

Remix Transforms Data into Visuals

The centrepiece of the announcement is Remix, a visual tool that analyses data and information stored within Confluence pages and automatically generates appropriate charts and graphics. The feature recommends the most suitable visual format and creates the assets without requiring users to switch to another application.

"With Remix and agents in Confluence, a single page becomes the starting point for whatever comes next: a clear story for leaders, a prototype for builders, or a walkthrough for customers, all from the same source of truth," wrote Sanchan Saxena, Atlassian's Senior Vice President of Teamwork Collaboration.

Third-Party Agents Bridge to Development

Alongside Remix, Atlassian introduced three new third-party agents that operate within Confluence using model context protocols (MCPs). These agents connect Confluence users to external development and presentation platforms.

One agent integrates with the AI coding platform Lovable, allowing teams to turn product ideas and documentation into working prototypes. A second agent connects to the app builder Replit to convert technical documents into starter applications. The third agent works with the AI presentation software Gamma to automatically generate slides and other presentation materials from Confluence content.

Industry Shift Towards Embedded AI

This launch underscores a significant shift in enterprise software, where major players are prioritising the integration of AI tools into familiar environments. While companies like Salesforce initially launched separate AI agent platforms, such as Agentforce in 2024, they have since focused on upgrading existing products like Slack with agent capabilities.

OpenAI's recent Frontier Alliances initiative, which partners with consulting firms to embed its technology into clients' existing tech stacks, exemplifies the same philosophy. Atlassian's strategy directly supports this approach of minimising disruption. "Technology should fade into the background and let people focus on their best work," Saxena stated in the announcement.

The new AI features for Confluence are available now, with Remix in open beta. The rollout continues Atlassian's investment in making AI a native component of its core teamwork and productivity suites, aiming to reduce friction between ideation, documentation, and creation for business teams.
