A passenger's 24-hour journey from London to Sydney was transformed by upgrading to Emirates business class, a service renowned for its comprehensive luxury. The experience began with a pre-booked private car from home to a dedicated airport entrance, where attendants handled all luggage. This set a seamless tone for a trip featuring exclusive lounge access, lie-flat beds, and gourmet dining across two long-haul flights.
The service included priority check-in and boarding at London Gatwick. The first leg to Dubai, on a slightly older aircraft, offered a comfortable pod with a lie-flat seat, a large entertainment system, and an amenity kit from Bulgari. Flight crew provided Champagne and hot towels shortly after boarding.
Signature In-Flight Experience and Culinary Offerings
Approximately an hour after takeoff, the onboard cocktail lounge opened, with crew serving classic cocktails and mocktails. "It was an incredible experience to order a drink and sip a cosmopolitan while looking out the window," the passenger noted. The crew also took Polaroid photos of guests in the lounge as a keepsake.
Three separate meals were served on the seven-hour flight, including a beef filet and a traditional Arabic mezze plate. The passenger described the mezze—featuring kibbeh, babaganoush, and hummus—as a favourite, noting the food was so plentiful a light meal was skipped.
Dubai Lounge and Enhanced Second Leg
During a three-hour layover, the passenger visited the expansive Emirates lounge in Dubai, describing it as "the most spectacular I've ever visited." The lounge featured multiple food stations, an ice cream cart, a Costa Coffee stand, and a dedicated Moët & Chandon Champagne-tasting area serving Nectar Impérial with canapés.
The subsequent 14-hour flight to Sydney operated on a more modern aircraft. The business-class cabin featured chic, fully reclining seats. The crew added a mattress pad and provided soft loungewear, which the passenger brought home. "Unsurprisingly, I slept better than I ever have on a plane," they reported.
While noting minor areas for improvement like privacy screens and more current entertainment, the passenger concluded the experience was "delightful, memorable, and seamless." They stated the business-class offering made the arduous long-haul journey pass comfortably and is an experience they would happily repeat.
