YouTube creator Jimmy Donaldson, known globally as MrBeast, continues to work over 15 hours a day despite having built a large executive team to support his empire. In a recent interview, the 26-year-old described a schedule "literally planned down to the minute" and stated he "lives to work," acknowledging he has no healthy work-life balance.

His company, Beast Industries, is now embarking on a significant hiring spree. Newly appointed CEO Jeffrey Housenbold announced plans to grow the team by 50% in 2024 across offices in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and its Greenville, North Carolina headquarters.

Relentless Work Ethic and Delegation

Donaldson revealed the intensity of his work schedule while producing the Amazon show "Beast Games," where days under 15 hours were "a miracle." He emphasised that "everything has to be perfect because I don't have much time," illustrating this with the meticulous process for creating his famous YouTube thumbnails.

The company employs a body double who works a standard nine-to-five, Monday-to-Friday schedule to pre-block potential thumbnail poses. This system allows Donaldson's team to execute the final shoot with maximum speed and efficiency when he is available.

Building a Corporate Powerhouse

To manage his expanding output, which includes YouTube videos, philanthropy, and new ventures like "Beast Games," Donaldson has assembled a seasoned leadership team. In 2024, he appointed Jeffrey Housenbold, former CEO of Shutterfly and a venture capitalist, as CEO of Beast Industries.

The executive team now includes veterans from major firms like TikTok, Snap, and NBCUniversal. According to a LinkedIn post by the company's VP of Talent, Beast Industries is recruiting for creative, engineering, marketing, product, and production roles to fuel its next phase of growth.

Context and Future Trajectory

Donaldson started his YouTube channel from his bedroom and has since become one of the platform's most subscribed and commercially successful creators. His admission of an all-consuming work schedule highlights the pressures at the pinnacle of the creator economy, even with substantial corporate infrastructure.

While Donaldson said his relentless pace is "not really a fair comparison for most people," he shows no signs of slowing down. The planned 50% team expansion indicates Beast Industries is shifting from a creator-led operation into a fully-fledged media and entertainment conglomerate, with systematic processes supporting Donaldson's vision.
