Paramount has hired Hugh Williams, a former Google vice-president, as an Executive Vice-President and 'Executive in Residence' to strengthen its advertising technology and product capabilities. The move, announced internally on Thursday, aims to modernise the media conglomerate's technical infrastructure and unlock new business value.

Williams, a highly respected technology leader, will report directly to Paramount's Chief Product Officer, Dane Glasgow. In his new role, he will oversee the company's advertising sales and platform executives, including Travis Scoles, Todd Bender, and Paul Mahood.

Williams brings a formidable pedigree in building and scaling major digital platforms. He is widely credited with helping to invent the "infinite scroll" feature during his tenure at Google, a design pattern that has become ubiquitous across social media and content apps. His career began when he was hired by Bill Gates at Microsoft to help build what would later become the Bing search engine.
